Quotes often come to several thousand euros, which is out of proportion when you simply want to be found, present your business and receive inquiries. On the other hand, do-it-yourself website builders often end in a site that is never finished, or a subscription you pay for without being able to take anything with you.

And in both cases, the same question comes back six months later: who updates it, who backs it up, and what happens the day you want to leave?

Two ways to pay: you pay for the build, or you pay nothing upfront and the subscription includes your changes. The site is yours as soon as the build is paid for, or after twelve months of subscription.

  • Yes. It covers hosting, the domain name, the security certificate, updates and backups: that is what allows the site to last, instead of deteriorating without anyone noticing.

    A website left without updates gets hacked sooner or later. That is what happens to abandoned sites, and repairing them costs more than years of the monthly plan.

  • The website is the same. What changes is the edits: with the subscription, your change requests are included (changing some text, replacing a photo, adding a page). Otherwise, they are billed separately.

    With the one-off purchase, you pay for the build (€300 or €600), then €50 a month. With the subscription, you pay nothing upfront and pay €100 or €150 a month, edits included.

    The subscription requires a twelve-month commitment. After that, the price stays the same, and your edits remain included.

  • To you, with both options, but not at the same point in time. With the one-off purchase, it belongs to you as soon as the build is paid for. With the subscription, it becomes yours at the end of the twelve-month commitment.

  • You leave with your website, once it is yours: as soon as the build is paid for with the one-off purchase, at the end of the twelve-month commitment with the subscription. The domain name is transferred to you, along with the files and the database.

    You will simply need new hosting, with the provider of your choice.

  • Because with WordPress, your website is made of files and a database that you can take with you. With an online builder, stopping the subscription makes the site disappear: there is nothing to recover.

    WordPress is also much better suited to search engine optimization, and it can grow with your business.

  • A website is for presenting: people read it, contact you, buy. An application is for working: it manages cases, stock, schedules, users with different permissions.
